Docent Milan Vácha, a sculptor, restorer and teacher, studied at the Secondary School of Fine Arts (Střední odborná škola výtvarná) in Prague and from 1963 to 1969 at the Academy of Fine Arts (AVU) under Vincent Makovský. After Makovský passed away, Vácha continued and graduated under Karel Lidický. From 1973 to 1999 he worked at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University (Fakulta architektury ČVUT) in Prague, where he was appointed associate professor (docent) in 1991.
He specializes in free plastic of monumental forms, which he also creates in stone and wood. He also restores and renovates historical monuments (e. g. Strahov Monastery, St. Vitus Cathedral, Charles Tower Bridge). Since 2014, he has been holding sculpture symposiums in Lysolaje, where he lives and works. Of the many works for architecture we pick the outstanding piece, Family, from 1984 in Prague - Stodůlky, which became the prototype for the alien in the Aliens and Herons project.
