In an authentic location, Jílovecká Street in Semily lined with timbered houses, where files used to be made until 1956, you will see the original hand-making art of these instruments. The exhibition will tell you what filemaking used to look like and you will also be able to try the difference between mechanically and handmade files.
Next you will see an authentic room from the time just after World War I. This is a true original room, the first live ethnographic exhibition, intended among other things to further disseminate the knowledge of tangible folk culture of the Krkonoše foothills area. Everyone will be able to write a postcard at a sturdy table with a wooden bench, look into a cupboard and pantry, touch a manual fire engine, lit a pull-down lamp, skim through a prayer book or just rest in a corner and contemplate about how difficult life was in the past.
